Stronger Unions, Stronger Communities
When working people have the freedom to come together in strong unions, entire communities benefit. Unions give everyday working people the power in numbers they need to make their communities safer and stronger, and they are critical to fixing an economy rigged in favor of the rich and powerful.
Whether it’s teachers speaking up together for smaller class sizes, or EMS workers negotiating for better staff ratios that decrease emergency response times this report underscores that strong unions are needed now more than ever.
The case studies included in this report are just a few examples of the many ways strong unions are making our communities and our country stronger for everyone.
On October 19, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) wrote to MUSD Board President Lani Cupchoy outlining concerns over the Districts handling of the budget process. The same letter also notifies the Board that a Fiscal Expert would be assigned to the District in order to oversee the implementation of the District proposed stabilization plan. MUSD has prepared a form for you to be able to turn in your receipts so they can process your reimbursement.
For the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years, school sites will receive an additional budget allocation to be used for said reimbursements. The additional allocations are specifically for the reimbursement of classroom teacher expenditures up to $200 per year and exclusively for instructional supplies. It’s the responsibility of the administrator at each school site to monitor and ensure compliance (eligibility of teachers, classroom supplies and maximum of funds).
Click here to access the fillable PDF form which the classroom teacher is required to submit to the site administrator when requesting reimbursement. This form will then be submitted to Finance for tracking and audit related purpose.
The Finance Department has notified administrators via email and has furnished a copy of this form. Questions can be referred to your site administrator.
